Why do American movies show Greek people as Fair skinned?

Every movie made in America about Greece depict Greek people as having fair skin. But movies from Greece show Greek people as having olive skin! What is up with this?|||lmao..I don't have an answer, but, i completely agree with you.. I have seen this in many movies, and not only Greeks, also, Mexican, Italian. etc.|||It's called Eurocentricity. He that holds the dominance will call the shots and try to make up there own version of history. The older movies show white people running Egypt, Tarzan fighting everybody in Africa, and Jesus Christ painted as a white person. Of course, if one really thinks about it, you'll know that such things are not really true.

In most american movies, why is it that american teenagers are very disrespectful of their parents?

is it just in the movies? or is it based on reality? the way they answer their parents are very disrespectul, they talk back, they shout back thinking they know everything. it's very hurtful as a parent to see that, makes me boil my blood %26amp; slap my daughter, i mean, the TV.|||It's not American teens only like that. Teens everywhere rebel and are just plain nasty to be around. Some are nice and respectful , but at times everyone gets angry and yells at their parents. No one is innocent of that.|||I think that the rebel behaviour comes greatly from overstrict parents. Im a 15 years old teen and i rarely have conflicts with my parents. We both use common sense.

I could do drugs (i have some classmates that are into that, so if i wanted to i could get it) do i do drugs? No, they are bad for your health and you become addicted.

I look old enough, and soon will be, to buy alcohol. Do i do it? Rarely, im not interested in getting myself drunk, i enjoy 1 beer about every two weeks, thats less than most adults.

I could get cigarettes if i wanted to. Do i do it? No, smoking is the absolute turn-off. You stink, you become unhealthy, etc.

My parents NEVER told me i was not allowed to drink, do drugs, or smoke.

I dont do it anyway.

You see, i was raised with common sense, not with over-strictness.|||Watching people be obedient doesn't make for very good television, does it? Disobedience causes drama, pain, anger, and those are things that people love watching. Movies are made to be entertaining, not to be realistic, and sometimes that means that something which is rare in life is very common in movies.|||Its terrible I know!! I could never act that way to my parents but its true, some do. I could never behave that way, not only because I'd get in big trouble, but just because, I would never want to yell at my parents.|||Because it would probably be a boring movie if they weren't disrespecting thier parents.|||because too many parents let their kids become brats..its easier to say yes to every demand than say no and enforce discipline...its so sad cause these kids are gonna be messed up.|||because their parents are idiots|||Not all american teens are like that, but I have seen many that are.|||not all american teens are like that, but some are.

Are foreign movies even MORE scarier than american movies if so how?

like i dont get it how are they scary even more like maybe asia is more scary cause theres grudges everywhere you look but how is it scarier ?|||Asia's horror films in my opinion are far better than American horror films. Because America relies on a lot of blood and gore to make their movies scary for example SAW. In American films if it fairly simple to figure out who is going to die and in most cases the killer and why.

While in for example Korean horror films it is much different. Korean horror tend to more terrifying for more psychological reasons. You think you understand why something is happening but it isn't until the end you understand what is really happening. Example Deathbell 1 and 2|||No, alot country's have " scary" movies, the grudge movies were only remade into American movies because the story would probably sell well since it sold well there, plus it will seem more spooky since those videos are from a culture people that are not from there don't understand, when people don't understand something it makes it scary....

Where can i download american movies with japanese subtitles???

i need a link to torrent sites that where i can dowload american movies with japanese subtitles. anybody know any?|||You should be able to do that at http://www.graboib.com. Just choose japanese as your language and then everything that comes up should either be dubbed or subtitled in Japanese. Hope that helps.|||You could try google translating "american movie with subtitles" into Japanese with google translate and then search for it and use the page translation option.

OR

First look for the subtitles of movies here:

http://japanese-subtitles.mysubtitles.or鈥?/a>

then download the corresponding movie, right click on it in WMP and choose the sub options.

Viola!

What whesites can I use for american movie expressions?I would like to understand movies easily.?

Have you heard of some new slangs or expressions in American movies?I am looking for a website to help me find the meaning of the new words or in some cases I wooould like to have the movie script.I heard in Garfiled this sentence. He is a tick boy. What does the sentence mean?|||It's tabou to answer a question with a question so I must just STATE that I don't know what a whesite is even though I know you have trouble with the word 'website'. However, to give the devil his due - your misspelling has a nice 'ring' to it if you pronounce it: whess-it-tay. No es verdad?

Who is your favorite non-american actor who takes American roles in movies/TV?

Russell Crowe comes to mind. I discount Mel Gibson because he is a bigot, and he only acts in dumb movies anyway. Any other actors from England, Australia, New Zealand you think are convincing as Americans? Male or Female.|||Actually, Mel Gibson is a US citizen, born in Peekskill, NY and raised in Oz.

However, consider the following

Minnie Driver

Eddie Izzard

Liam Neison

Colin Farrel

Hugh Laurie|||Hugh Laurie

He is awesome. I would have never know he had an accent and his role in House is so convincing.|||the guy who plays house. can't remember his name, hugh|||idk if he counts but i guess..

Hugh Laurie|||I think Arnold Shwartzeneggerereerrer (sp)? because he is so obviously not American, it's funny. I think he's the only foreigner in America who's lived here for 30 years and his accent has gotten stronger.|||Anna Friel

I didn't rate her as an actress until I saw her in Pushing Daisies, but she really is fantastic in that.

Kevin McKidd was good in Journeyman, sadly the series didn't last that long.|||hugh grant sean connery catherine zeta jones

Do english people use subtitles when watching american movies?

I read somewhere that an american woman went to the movie theater in england and there were subtitles. is this true? do you do it own your own if you are watching a movie in your house|||No dont think so, im scottish and never heard of anybody recently wanting subtitles to watch an american/brittish film, it is funny if its true. But i have heard that the scottish film Trainspotting by Danny Boyle was Subtitled/Re dubbed for the American Audience as they coudnt understand the Edinburgh 'scottish' accents...(Even i find it difficult to understand Glaswegian accents and im from Edinburgh)...lol....Only in America.

EDIT. well it was dubbed for sure. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117951/triv… and ken loach's Riff Raff was subtitled http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn… and a lot of other brittish films (ie Gregorys girl) redubbed or subtitled for the american audience.|||No! It might have been a French movie with English sub-titles, but not American with sub-titles

Sometimes Americans are a little hard for British/Australian people to understand, especially Southern drawls, but mainly it's not too bad and I've never seen sub-titles for American movies in England or Australia!

I think it's harder for Americans to understand some British accents (like Scottish and Irish and London cockney) than it is for us to understand American accents.

We are so exposed to the American culture that it's not difficult to understand the accents.|||Haha, I use subtitles when watching DVDs at my house! My friends hate it, they always make me turn the subtitles off. But although I can hear fine and can understand what's going on in a movie, I find subtitles to be convenient.

You don't even KNOW how much you've missed in a movie until you use subtitles... Even favorite movies of mine that I've watched over and over, I seem to find new things in them whenever I use subtitles.|||no cause the americans on movies all have really good accents, however do americans use subtitles when they have americans playing irish peolple.|||Nope!

Like the others have said, only films that have been made in another language get subtitles. Why waste money making subtitles for something we can understand?|||Totally untrue. The only time subtitles are used are in foreign language movies.|||haha no offence its not like your speaking another language tbh your speaking our language you just changed it a little :P|||Lol no reason why we should use subtitles- after all it's our language you guys are using :/|||no the only time subtitles are used in cinema are when foreign films are being shown|||No this is not true. First I've heard of it actually!?!|||no we do not, its easier understanding americans than it is some rural ares of Britain|||No|||no lol
