How are influences from American movies, comics, or consumer culture evident in the art of another country?
I think America's culture has an immense impact on other countries' culture. For example, I think of the use of English words and punchlines, and trying to include typically American motifs and symbols to evoke a sense of globality. In Germany, for example, some German words are replaced by the English equivalents (which really drives some people mad), TV commercials are produced American style, etc. American TV series are much more popular than German ones, so the German production companies are trying to create something more American, with some success. Many ideas from America are copied into German shows. American music and images are employed in theatre performances, and so on and so on. Even if many people don't like the idea: America is still "en vogue".
