Why in American movies the people don't have a accent?

Whenever there is a american made movie, why don't the people in the film have a american accent?|||What with mass media, radio, tv and movies accents are starting to disappear. Most people are stating to sound like newscasters.|||a good way to observe an american accent that is "acted" is to watch a british performer play an american. kate winslet in "The Life Of David Gale" sounds nothing like her normal speaking voice. in television, hugh laurie is totally doing an american accent. you can hear his real accent in many hilarious videos on Youtube. some american actors overdo a regional accent and it can become very grating. kevin costner in "13 Days" comes to mind. many actors overdo a southern drawl.my family lived in california and i don't recognize what a "california accent" sounds like, 'cause i have one!my sister moved to the midwest and when i talked to her a few years later, i didn't recognize her! her accent was flat and nasal. when i commented, she denied that her voice had changed at all.|||I don't really understand the question. Everyone in the world has an accent, the way a person talks is his accent. It doesn't matter what country, or what part of the country you are from. If you could be a little specific I'm sure you will get more useful answers.|||Like Rocky?

Or Fried Green Tomatoes?

America has lots of regional accents!|||Uh, they do. Ask a Brit.
