this has been bugging me and giving me anxiety for 3 months, i keep thinking american movies might have things anime does but i dont know. and i have been constantly searching why anime is better but that somehow isnt working, can someone help explain it gretly so my anxiety would go away.|||Listen, animes are entirely better and some American peoples just can't admit

Why is there always at least one black guy in many mainstream American movies?

I am Brazilian, today my teacher said that our film has many swears, too much sex and violence all, and a friend of mine said that American cinema is nothing without it, my teacher said that when the American film debut they take several expletives, nothing better than an American answer to this, it is true have many words?|||Yes we do like to use sexual stuff in out films, but it's just to spice the film up. If we do show a sex scene it's just to two people loving each other not in a pornographic form. We do have lots of cussing, but that's in movies such as the town where they really have to. You don't see some badass guys going around saying "Yo let's boogie". If we do have cussing and such it's usually for the necessary or comedic reasons.|||A truly good film reveals a universal truth. American or Brazilian. The sex, violence, etc. should be used when necessary, but should by no means, define a film.

Why is it rare to see asian men play Romantic in American Movies?

am i the only one that notices this?|||Have noticed that too and have noticed as well that there aren't many movies with interracial couples either. The majority has a white%26amp;white couple and some independent black productions will have a black%26amp; black couple.


So one factor why there aren't many Asians in romantic movies is that the mainstream movies are produced by whites for a white audience.


And another factor is that Asian guys are traditionally stereotyped as "being asexual" and feminine. (Just think of all the "small penis" jokes) One of my professors once mentioned that in the 19th century getting together with a white woman was forbidden for black men, but it wasn't forbidden for an Asian man. The reason behind it was not that Asian men were prefered, but quite the opposite: people thought that white women wouldn't even consider an Asian man as attractive, and thus the law that forbade Asian men to have any kind of romantic relationship with a white woman was only introduced after a white woman had an Asian boyfriend. I can't remember which state it was though.|||there are 2 main reasons:





1. Asian American parents discourage sons to become actors because they feel it is not a respectable and stable career. They want they best for their son so they send them to top universities, not liberal arts acting schools.





2. Hollywood is controlled by whites. Whites do not want to see Asians have leads unless it's horribly stereotypical (like a martial artist or gangster from Asia). Did you know there was a kissing scene in the movie "Romeo must die" between Jet Li and Aliyah but it was cut??|||Because they makeup only like 2 percent of America and are few in Hollywood. Go to Asian and you see plenty of romantic Asian movies. Whites controls Hollywood that's why you don't see Blacks, Hispanics or others having positive roles as Whites do. Even if Asians were to go to Hollywood they probably cast them as Martial artists or side roles.|||Yes because the U.S. media stereotypes them as being nerdy and smart instead of being hot, sexy, strong, masculine, romantic, etc.|||because white people don't want asian men look good in western media|||Hollywood movie producers are waging an aggressive campaign of exterminating Asian born males with their propaganda machines.|||Because they can't escape the reality of how Asian American men can be romantic.|||I love ur question! %26lt;3

Women exploitation in american movies and music videos is merely a by-product of an unequal society. If there wasn't a double standard for male vs. female behavior, in the first place, we wouldn't have to worry about the treatment of women in music videos. I think America's culture has an immense impact on other countries' culture. For example, I think of the use of English words and punchlines, and trying to include typically American motifs and symbols to evoke a sense of globality. In Germany, for example, some German words are replaced by the English equivalents (which really drives some people mad), TV commercials are produced American style, etc. American TV series are much more popular than German ones, so the German production companies are trying to create something more American, with some success. Many ideas from America are copied into German shows. American music and images are employed in theatre performances, and so on and so on. Even if many people don't like the idea: America is still "en vogue".

How are influences from American movies, comics, or consumer culture evident in art of other countries?

For example, has American pop culture influenced art throughout the world? Is the influence beneficial or detrimental to other country's culture?|||I can only speak for my own country. And yes, American culture has a huge influence! How could it be otherwise?95% of the movies we watch are American ( today was "United 93" premiere...), our kids star da day watching "Disney Kids" on TV and go to "MC Donald's" for lunch, we order dinner at "Pizza Hut" and before going to bed we watch Conan or Jay Leno or "CSI" or "Desperate Housewives".


Is this bad? I don't Think so. It certainly was one of the things that molded my personality as I was growing - I started learning English before going to school, thanks to "Bonanza" and "Star Trek", had a skateboard and listened to Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen....


But this never made me loose track of my own roots and culture. I think it made me a richer person, with a much more open mind. In my opinion the exchange of cultures is to be encouraged.

Why does Britain and other European countries get American movies and TV shows get released a few weeks later?

I'm just wondering, because we have to wait sometimes up to 4-6 weeks in the UK!|||It depends on the movie. But its so that the studio gets a constant amount of money. The longer a film is in theaters, the less money goes to the studio and more that goes to the theater. Releasing the film at different times helps even out the money.





Sometimes its the other way though. Lots of movies get released earlier in europe.|||Britain is not a country...

Netflix and Hulu don't work in Seoul South Korea. So where can I find a site, preferably free, but willing to pay a little. What are my options?|||I'm an American living in Korea. Why is the production of American porn movies so poor?

The Japanese law requires thier movies to be censored (no sex organs), but the production of their movies are still light year ahead of the American one. I don't mean their movies are better, but their costume, make-up, sound effect,cinematography... are just way better. Porn industry is important to every man(straight or gay), why can't the LA guys produce some high quality porn?|||The audience for porn doesn't really care about production values. And porn actors aren't in it to showcase their theatrical chops. That's what mainstream films are for. They're just looking for sexual stimulation. The producers of porn aren't going to waste their money on high-end production techniques, even if they had the the talent for it, which they don't.|||Porn movies are to make money that's it pure and simple quality is not really an issue, if you can make a movie for $1000 and sell a few hundred units you make a profit, they are cheap to make and there is quite a bit of organised crime involvement in the production of porn, Deep Throat for example cost $20,000 to make yet it made Millions.|||Private productions are very good, especially the old ones. They use beautiful European women and many have high budgets and ellaborate productions. They have made some of the most ellaborate productions using famous directors. They have gone under the name of Private Gold and Private Black Label. They have made films called Uranius Experiment (Triolgy), The Tower (Triology), Millionaire, Cleopatra, and many more. Many of their productions use exootic locations, outdoors, on the ocean, tropics, etc. I admit, I dont like the newer Private films as well, but the older ones are some of the best porn ever made (say from 1995-2005). The newer ones besides not being made as well also have seemed to take on more of the cheap, overacting, more vulgar, overly madeup girls of the US porn! In the 70s, it use to be a big production where you had to be a good actor and I think they even had soundtracks where people specifically created music for porn movies. I'm going to be in Greece when the last Harry Potter comes out.. my grandmother said that the movie would be in English with Greek subtitles but I don't think she's seen a movie there in a long time.. anyone know if this is true?|||ALL foreign movies are with Greek subtitles for both cinema and TV viewing. Is anyone else kind of tired of seeing British people in American movies?

Nothing against British people but they are really in every American movie now. Since when do Americans run into so many British people on the streets. It seems like every major American movie has atleast one Brit in it. Also, Brtis and Aussies are starting to play Americans in film like crazy! Did we run out of American talent that we have to import people to play Americans?





Again, nothing against Brits but I was just getting tired of seeing one in EVERY SINGLE film. |||It's probably because British/Australian people can only get worldwide famous if they play in American movies. I think it's a great idea because there's lots of British actresses out there who have talent. It's great to see a mixture of people from different countries coming together to make a movie.|||I hadn't thought about it but it's true. It could be that American movie makers believe they would get more viewers in Europe if they had a few actors from there.

Why they drink water from the sink in the kitchen or bathroom in American movies?

The more I watch them, I notice they drink from the sink...


Why is that?|||Because the water from the faucet in America is drinkable. Some people may disagree and prefer to drink bottled water, but there are strict government standards that the water district must adhere to; the water is tested regularly for safety.|||eh? where do you drink water from?|||simple, its bcuz its a movie. Dont do it in real life.|||Actaully most people do not do this anymore as the taste of public water has rapidly deteriorated over the years. Although, it is supposed to be safe for consumption. I have been buying bottled water for years for my children. My parents did as well. Although, if youre thirsty, you drink from the sink.

Our water in, most parts of the country, is still top grade. The bottle water fad is leftover from places ( like in Europe ) that have been populated (with our type of civilazation) for A LOT longer than the US. I'm sure we are well along the same path, but we haven't reached the level of H2O quality of other nations. That being said, we still consume wasteful water bottles on a daily basis, it's a shame for the planet. San Francisco recently outlawed the selling of water bottles in all city gov. buildings to try and bring some earth friendly ideals to the workplace... hope this answers your thought.|||its better than the toilet, where the heck do you drink from, mud puddles?????

What popular American movies do you think won't play well in foreign countries and why?

I was surprised that the blockbuster movie Julie and Julie did awful in France. Like 5/8 of the movie is set in France too. Go figure|||I don't think Gran Tourino would play well in Asia....... lol|||Any baseball or basketball or american football movies don't make it big internationally. They're not really popular sports here.|||it was an americanized version of france.

Why do American Movies glorify genocide?

American movies glorify the genocide of the Native American population and use propaganda to portray the Native American population as uncivilised animals. Mainstream Hollywood was always "activist" against racism and such. By the 1960's it was the Cavalry that were portrayed as the "bad guys", in such as Cheyenne Autumn (a dreadful film), Little Big Man, Soldier Blue, etc.





John Wayne was also one of the first actor to insist on having multi racial actors in his films.





However, American films did maintain an element of racial stereotypical casting and storylines. Mostly towards African-Americans and Asians.





Even the "Western Movie Channel" does not show the really racist films anymore. Perhaps you missed "Dances With Wolves"? How about all the films made by Native Americans? "Smoke Signals", etc.





"Code talkers", a rather weak film, tries to show the contribution of Native Americans in WWII, using all native actors.





But just as the Brits did a number in the peoples of India in their films, they also went on to produce such as "Gandhi". But now India has its own film industry.

Although there are exceptions, the majority of films are catered to single white men usually young white males so they'll make what they want to see or movies that typically satisfy their fantasies. Everyone else gets more or less typecast into stereotypical roles. You have producers to thank for that since they come up with the ideas. Writers just fill in dialog. Its run like any other business at the expense of everyone whose non-white male.|||White people are not the only Americans. If you were born in America, you are an American, that means anyone of any color can be American.

Do American movies perpetuate conflict as the richest experience?

Seems to me even the sitcoms are always based around conflict. Of course it's the easiest base for story construction - but what happened to all the others?|||It is because we as humans are natural problem solvers and to be able to see an issue that does not involve us engages our minds in a none-stressful way in which we can comfortable solve the problem without the autonomical arousal of actually experiencing the issues.





There are other types of movies out there, but it is just more popular to be centered around conflict, just like life can be. Honestly do you think that people would pay $15.00 to see a mother have a perfect life and a perfect husband, house, kids, and nothing happened? It doesn't feed our greedy little minds with horror and excitement.

How much has the real american teen life has to do with the american teen movies?!?

I mean the lines, are so fake, the...events I mean..huh...it's like so not real life...even the characters are so oveeeeeeer emphasized...how do you think american teens, how much the movies show the real story :) ?|||the only accurate thing about those movies is the fact that teenagers WILL party and they WILL have sex (well....most of them).


Most teenagers in real life will NOT however:


-All be driving Escalades and Mercedes


-All look like Barbie and/or Ken or an ethnic variety of either


-All live in 10 bedroom Colonial homes


-All look that they have far surpassed the point of sexual maturation (look like they're 25-30)


-Get all good grades despite never seeming to attend classes, study or complete assignments


-All live in college dorms that seemed to be completely inhabited by half dressed play-boy co-eds.





All these things are sooooo unrealistic with teenage movies. When I went to school...it was nothing like that...for most of high school, I took the bus. For my friends who actually DID drive, we usually crammed 10 of us into a small hatch back. My college life was broke, and I studied all the time. My dorms were just that...dorms...NOT filled with sexy, playboy co-eds, but other struggling students just trying to get good grades and keep their head above water.


Movies are meant to be an escape from reality to indulge in a story. These teen movies are JUST THAT, far from reality and most...not even with a good story! lol|||It's all over exaggerated but basically true. If you take out the "shock" and the "chaos" for the most part...|||not enough banging and snortin imo|||if u have a big penis or your a hot girl, sure it will be like the teen movies but otherwise, ur a loser and life sux unless you can live happily without sex|||Hollywood rarely portrays any people group accurately - key offenders are:





Teens, kids, cops, parents, and born again Christians|||Depends on the movie. I would not say that my life is anything like Pineapple Express, but that's just me.


Though i would say that american teens are all for living in the moment.|||i could nt tell ya but if its like that im sorry to say but america is gay
