I've noticed how they ALMOST always show Russians as bad guys in movies now. Like Salt, Golden Compass, and lots of other ones that I don't remember the name of.|||Possibly because relations have always been tense between the US and Russia. WWI, WWII, The Cold War etc..|||When Americans will get educated - they will stop show Russians as bad -
Americans are weak with history -
They forget that Hitler would not have lost if Russia had not helped -
In 10 or 20 years - maybe that will change, hopefully -
I always enjoyed my visits to "MOCKBA" and St. Petersburg -
In the old days of "CCCP" of the 1970/80s and now since 1991 -
Bolshoi Ballet - Music concerts - even the beautiful Moscow subway -
The Ermitage - the Kremlin - The Red Army choirs and dances...|||It is just the way Americans are.. Remember that movie 2012 they portrayed that rich Russian billionaire as a horrible ugly person. America likes stereotyping people.|||Because they were the US' political enemies for a rather long time. It's hard to get past those stereotypes, I guess.|||The cold war era seems to not leave Hollywood.
But truth to be told
But if you saw some of modern Russian movies involving the USA, it is the same thing.|||Many reasons:
-Media hype
-stereotypes
-remembrance of the Soviet Union
-ignorance|||It's because our accents sound so badass.

In American movies and such, why do they portray Russians as bad?
