Who thinks american movies are overrated?

this movie avatar, so popular all over the world, but I didn't watch it because It's going to be same boring childish american movie. I think European movies are much better in quality and level. american movies are just popular as instant movie just like other cheap quality instant american cultures.|||A lot of American movie are rubbish but there are plenty of good ones too.





I think Europe offers a nice alternative to the Hollywood drivel currently though. The best two films I saw last year were "Let The Right One In" and "Moon" and those are Swedish and British productions.





The main problem with lots of American movies is they just get lots of money thrown at them and don't focus at the key elements which makes a movie good. Michael Bay is a classic example of a director who sums up everything wrong with American movies.|||...i'm speechless. Apart from the fact that I absolutely agree on your stance on the quality of European films, I can really only recommend you drag you're ignorant a*se to the nearest movie theatre and watch that film!|||and i suppose thats why american culture is listened to/watched and enjoyed ALL over the world|||It's a rather large generalisation to say that all American movies are over rated.





There are plenty of good American films and plenty of bad European films; not to mention Asian films of which there are plenty of good (and bad) examples. I'm from the UK and own and enjoy many movies from lots of different countries.





I would think the reason US films get more exposure is because they produce more English speaking movies than other places, since it's a bigger place with more studios etc.





Take a look through the imdb top 250, and see how many of them were made in the USA. It's quite a lot of them, and I wouldn't call many of them boring or childish.





The US are king of the mindless Summer action movie blockbuster type though, and I can see why you'd dislike those.|||To me, European movies in general are dripping in pretentiousness. European filmmakers seem too full of themselves for my taste
